Victimae Paschali Laudes - Heinrich Bach [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

On Easter day, the Catholic mass includes the Easter sequence “Victimae Paschali laudes“, translated in the Roman Missal as “Christians, to the Paschal Victim offer sacrifice and praise.“ The traditional plainsong theme is used as the basis for this piece by Heinrich Bach (1615-1692). This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the Maarchalkerweerd organ in Zwolle. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the acoustic. Steven Maxson is well known as an organist, conductor, composer, and arranger.
