Fighter Sweeps (1942)

Titles read: “FIGHTER SWEEPS“. Location of events unknown - probably London. C/U of Air Marshall Sir William Sholto, Head of Fighter Command, sitting at a desk in his office (not studio). He makes a speech to camera, saying “In the Battle of Britain Fighter Command was on the defensive, now the initiative is ours and every day with our fighter sweeps and escorted bomber raids we are carrying the war to the enemy. We like it better that way“. RAF crews walk across an airfield and board their Spitfires. Good shots of the planes taking off in a formation. Actual footage (though very shaky and blurred) of Spitfires engaged in battle with German Focke-Wolfe 190s taken by a camera situated at the rear gun. We see the pilot bail out. Another brief shot as we fly over enemy ships and fire at them. Back at the base RAF airmen watch the planes coming back and welcome the pilots as they get out of their planes.
