Of course I’m familiar with the term “took my breath away“ but this is the first time it’s actually happened to me. I saw the rock face leading into the massive crevice cut into the basalt layer and thought “wow that’s beautiful“ then as I stepped down towards the drop-off to look into the gorge it happened. I literally had to catch my breath. The amount of splendorous beauty blew my mind. Never before have I been taken back by so much majesty as I looked down that gorge and across the vast vista to the far off desert below. I wanted more time to take it all in but in the back of my mind I was taking inventory of where the animals were in relationship to the cliff’s edge. I knew I had to get moving in order to keep my beloved four-legged friends away from danger. It’s funny how those two things are often combined. Beauty and
