BEI MIR BIST DU SCHOEN by the Benny Goodman Sextet 1937

Vibraphones, piano, drums, and Benny Goodman’s clarinet make for a great combination on this tune. Originally a Yiddish song, it was translated to english and quickly became very popular. It has been recorded by lots of folks, but this is undoubtedly the consummate rendition, recorded in 1937, with Martha Tilton doing vocals and even a short visit at the end by Ziggy Elman and his trumpet. AND, as if that weren’t enough, this is a two part version. Side one is the side usually played on the radio, but side two was recorded 8 days after side one with Ziggy Elman added to the crew. It seems to be more of a jam session (lots of those from Goodman and his gang). This is a really hot tune performed by the best. Enjoy!
