WARNING GRAPHIC! Arizona: The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred on May 28, 2024. The incident occurred in the area of 10th Street and Southern Avenue when two officers on patrol together stopped a man on a bicycle for a traffic violation. The officer riding in the passenger seat got out to contact the man. The man immediately became combative, the second officer who was driving came around his vehicle to help the first officer detain the man. During the struggle the man pulled out a handgun and fired it striking one of the officers in the leg. The other officer returned fire hitting the man. After he was shot, the suspect continued to struggle with the uninjured officer. The suspect was able to stand up and was taken into custody by additional officers arriving at the scene.
