Mischa Maisky plays Bach Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major BWV 1007 (full)

Mischa Maisky plays Bach’s 1st Solo Cello Suite The first suite for violoncello solo by Johann Sebastian Bach is a touchstone in this instrument’s repertoire. This is one of the great example of Bach’s genius creation. The pattern of the suite is the one largely followed in the subsequent suites: a free prelude, followed by a fast allemande and Courante, a contemplative sarabande, a minuet that makes an excursion into a minor key, and a speedy closing Gigue. The start of amazing cello covers where the harmony sways out note-by-note like a musical journey. Mischa Maisky recorded the complete cycle in 1986. The tone of the 1st suite is G Major. Bach Works Catalog number is BWV 1007.
