Millions of years of evolution have created the most universal and perfected instrument – the human arm. Everything in our modern world exists thanks to this instrument. Even to this day, the industry has not found a more versatile tool to manipulate objects in 3D space than the robotic arm, which is essentially a mechatronic copy of a biological arm. The versatility of the robotic arm is truly unique. Combined with advanced machine vision and various end effectors, it can be used for almost anything. Today, the rapid development and miniaturization of mechatronic systems allow expanding the scope of use even further. In particular, until recently the size of the robotic arms was limited by the size of motors, gearboxes, and controllers. And now we see great momentum toward micro-automation with the use of miniature highly precise robotic arms. Most importantly, the cost of these robots approaches the cost of similar Cartesian systems. Thus, they can be effectively used in micromanipulation and micro-assembly
