Making a New Cylinder Piston | Satisfying Machining ASMR

This is one very satisfying machining job! Today we are making new hydraulic cylinder piston for the Apron Lift cylinder off a Caterpillar 651 Wheel Tractor Scraper. This shows the satisfying step by step process of making the new hydraulic cylinder pistons. We are starting with a solid piece of 245mm diameter 1045 high tensile steel and begin by machining and roughing down the material, we then drill and bore out the centre before boring a 7° degree taper to suit the cylinder rod. With the machining complete on the ID of the piston we then complete the OD of the piston including machining the pressure seal and wear band grooves. Another job done, thanks for watching! In this video we are using our Hafco TM-26120G Centre Lathe. Join our channel: We upload new videos every Friday at 5pm AEST! If you want to see more of our videos click LIKE & SUBSCRIBE!
