International Funk: Debo Band at TEDxBoston

How can a team of musicians with wildly different backgrounds create a new style of sound? Ethiopian-American saxophonist and musicologist Danny Mekonnen is the founder and director of Debo Band, a collective of Americans and Ethiopians who compose and work to reinvent the popular music of Ethiopia. Their spirited live performances have captured audiences in North America and Africa and will graced the stage of TEDxBoston 2013 with an inspired performance.
