After the BRICS summit, India and China are withdrawing troops from the Line of Actual Control in the disputed Himalayan region
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Kazan agreed on de-escalation at the border. Vladimir Putin acted as a mediator in the agreements.
Troops are being withdrawn primarily from the main points of contention in the Depsang and Demchok areas. Indian and Chinese soldiers have clashed in hand-to-hand combat with cold weapons over the past few years - there have been casualties and injuries.
