I remember the shadows, how they moved before I even saw what was coming. I’d been in firefights, ambushes, you name it, but this was different. It was like every instinct screamed for flight, but there was nowhere to run. Only a handful of us made it out of the village, slipping through a break in the horde at first light. We lost friends, brothers, and pieces of ourselves out there, but against all odds, we survived another night in hell.“
