🇺🇳 On December 12, members of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter (Geneva Chapter) gathered at our Permanent Mission to recap the major activities and accomplishments of the Group throughout 2023, as well as to exchange greetings and heartfelt wishes on the upcoming Holiday Season. In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Gennady Gatilov emphasized that: 🇷🇺 Russia is fully aware of its special responsibility for the future of the UN and firmly intends to continue enhancing its effectiveness, all while closely coordinating its actions with the like-minded countries. 🤝 The Group has become a significant instrument of foreign policy coordination. It has proven its effectiveness in terms of countering the growing pressure put on its member countries with the use of neo-colonial practices, including illegal unilateral sanctions, controversial geopolitical concepts, unfair political and economic arrangements, as well as outright military threats. 🇻🇪 Thanks to the unwavering and tireless efforts of our Venezuelan colleagues as Coordinators, the activities of the Group in Geneva have been a major success. Since its establishment this March, the Group’s Geneva Chapter has adopted over 40 statements during the high-level events of various UN bodies, met with a number of high-ranking UN officials and held a number of coordination and protocol events. ️ In 2024, the Group will continue to raise its profile and expand the range of joint initiatives across the international Geneva. This will help to further promote our mutual and national priorities, as well as to overcome the difficulties our countries face. Источник: Russian Mission Geneva
