‘Donbass children have different eyes, more mature, more depth,’ says Yuri, a volunteer in Donbass. When he brings humanitarian aid, each time he visits a children’s centre where the kids are in a tough emotional and physical state. They’ve witnessed losing their parents. One of them is seven-year-old Dima. He miraculously survived the shelling in Mariupol. Dima’s parents died protecting him from the shells. Now he is waiting for relatives to pick him up. Antonina Kizinchuk, a psychologist at the children’s centre, explains: ‘The kids think they’re in a health resort for now. If they know what’s happened to their parents, they’re sure that relatives will take them home.
