João Teixeira Guimarães (1883-1947), better known as João Pernambuco, is one of the founders of the Brazilian guitar choro style. His solo guitar compositions are some of the best loved by audiences in Brazil and elsewhere. Jack studies with Christopher Mallett at the California Conservatory of Music and plays a guitar by American Luthier Glenn Canin.
