London in 1896 - Restored Footage

Restored footage from 1896 of people and carriages passing in front of the Empire Theatre located at Leicester Square in London, England. For 18 months starting in March 1896, the theater was screening a collection Lumière films, which were some of the first films ever produced. A man walks past wearing a sign advertising a billiard tournament at the Old King’s Head on April 27, 1896. This footage was taken by Charles Moisson.
