Alexei Navalny supporters lay flowers at Moscow grave

On Tuesday (March 5), dozens of mourners continued to visit the grave of late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, who was laid to rest on March 1. Thousands of his supporters had gathered in Moscow’s Maryino district on the day of his funeral last Friday (March 1), to pay tribute to the 47-year-old opposition leader who died on Feb. 16 in an Arctic penal colony. Many supporters could not visit the grave due to police closure of the cemetery and came over the weekend, on Monday and Tuesday, forming queues to pay their respects at Navalny’s flower-laden grave. Yulia Navalnaya, Navalny’s widow, thanked the thousands of Russians who have spent hours queuing to visit her late husband’s grave.
