This is day 3 of drawing, using the shade brush, so if you haven’t watched day 1 and day 2, please do so now. This will help you to understand the basics of the shade brush and enable you to make this drawing of a sphere. The sphere consists of several tones; core shadow, cast shadow, mid-tone, highlight etc. These tones appear in different parts of the sphere as shown on the labeled diagram on the top. To better understand these varying tones, we can use the color picker of Paintology. To do this, select the color picker on the menu and put your cursor over the gray tones you are interested in. This will move the cursor on the gray scale at the bottom and you can see how the tones change. We use this to our advantage and apply it to the drawing.
