Alkan: Grand Duo Concertant, 3rd movement

Played by James Clark (violin) and Ronald Smith (piano), recorded in 1992. Third movement of Alkan’s Grand Duo Concertant in F Sharp Minor, Op. 21. This movement has an early Beethoven feeling of urgency and playfulness (which is not a surprise, as Alkan greatly admired Beethoven). Also, similar to the first movement, this movement has very wonderful and “catchy“ melodies throughout.
