Intro to Eddy Current Solver – Lesson 2

This video lesson covers the simulation steps of modeling an electromagnetic brake (EMB) with the help of Ansys Maxwell Eddy Current solver. The differences between the two solvers inside Maxwell — Magnetostatic solver and Eddy Current solver — are outlined in this video. The Magnetostatic solver assumes DC currents and permanent magnets as the source of excitation, while the Eddy Current solver assumes steady AC current as a source of excitation. This video shows the use of the Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) field calculator to calculate the ohmic loss in various parts of the design.
