’God save the King’: Liz Truss signals new era for monarchy after death of Queen Elizabeth II

Liz Truss has made a statement following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. “The death of her majesty the queen is a huge shock to the nation and the world,“ the prime minister said in her opening remarks. Ms Truss went on to call the Queen “a personal inspiration“ and said she was both loved and admired by people across the world. “She was the very spirit of Great Britain, and that spirit will endure.“ Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s death on Thursday, 8 September.
