Phrasing Math 2 | MichMusic Now

Live from Los Angeles, CA Playlist: Scatting Practice! Introducing: Phrasing Math - a Mich invention! This is the 2nd video in this new series. Phrasing Math is a specific system of practice to help you develop awareness of phrase structure and build it into your improvisational solos. When improvising there’s a fine line between predictability and surprise - you want a balance of both. Using simple Phrasing Math equations, it’s easy to build patterns of phrases that have a compositional quality, allowing you to better organize your ’thoughts’ and help the listener track you through your solo. This is a Scatting Practice! session - get ready to do some singing! We’ll be working with the ScatAbility app, Exercise 9 from demo singer Greg Jasperse’s pack.
