THE PRINCESS IN IRELAND

(5 Jan 1961) Our pictures show a Viscount airliner arriving at Shannon; and Irish courtesy had laid on VIP treatment for top Tourist Princess Margaret. With the Princess and her husband was Mr Jeremy Fry and Mr Billy Wallace. The party had flown over on a 10-day private visit to Tony’s mother, the Countess of Rosse and his step-father, the Earl. ® The holiday was being spent at Lord and Lady Rosse’s Irish home, Birr Castle in County Offaly. The near-by Protestant Church of St. Brendan, where the Princess was to attend Divine Service, was besieged by crowds, who settled down hours before she arrived. When she did arrive, she was at once almost lost in the crowd, and she and Tony could hardly get through to the Church.
