Monday, Monday THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS (with lyrics)

One of the best Sixties groups to come out of the USA, their shooting star was all too brief in the pop charts. This song, their second UK chart entry, peaked at #3 in 1966. Denny Doherty, who takes lead vocals here, hated the song and was surprised when it became a big hit. Mama Cass and Michelle Phillips didn’t like the song either, and even John Phillips (who wrote it) admitted he didn’t really know what the song was about.
