GAME RECAP: Penguins at Blackhawks () | Game 1,000 for Malkin

The Pittsburgh Penguins continued along their road trip as they headed to the windy city to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. This game was a special one for one of the Penguins’ best as Evgeni Malkin would take the ice for his 1,000th career NHL game. Brock McGinn got the Penguins scoring right away in the first as he tallied his 5th goal in the last 7 games. Surely enough, the next Pittsburgh goal came off the stick of Evgeni Malkin on his milestone night. Rickard Rakell would put the Penguins up 3-0 shortly after but the Blackhawks battled back, scoring two goals before the end of the second. Chicago would go on to tie the game in the third but Sidney Crosby would take back the lead for the Penguins with a rebound off his own miss. An empty-netter from Jeff Carter would seal this one as Pittsburgh capped off this special night for Malkin with a 5-3 victory.
