The Little Prince By Mikhail Mazel
The Little Prince
______ ...you are not necessary to me.
______ ...I am not necessary to you.
______ But if you tame me, we shall need
______ each other. To me, you will be
______ unique in all the world...
_____________ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
When sorrow fills my home, a tide,
In twilight’s grasp, like thieves’ soft skills,
To window, I will quietly slide,
And blend into the night’s quiet thrills
As stars in multitude I see,
Their laugh and cry to me, they send.
The gleam of eyes, tearfully free,
Awakes the hope, success to mend.
Recalling friends, both near and gone,
The ones far off, yet close in heart,
Those I’ve tamed, as time has shone,
And those who’ve tamed me, played their part.
I’m sure, in darkness, deep and sheer,
Amidst the vastness, void and dim,
There’s one, remembering me here,
With whom in thoughts, together, swim.
And night, bestowing calm so dear,
Lets me... rest as... a slumber calls.
Its piercing theme, to me so clear,
A hundred... tiny bells’ recalls.
