Viking-style gaming board for playing Hnefatafl and Nine men’s morris

Viking-style gaming board for playing tafl and nine men’s morris. The design is based on several viking age archaeological finds. The playing field is made like the one found in the Gokstad burial mound. The design of the carved panels on the side parts is taken from the carved parts of the Oseberg ship. Playing figures design is based on the ones found in Baldursheimur in northern Iceland. Materials used: Board and side parts - oak wood Carved panels - maple wood Dark figures - oak wood Light figures - karelian birch Proportions: Length - 50 cm Width - 40 cm Thickness of the side parts - around 3 cm Thickness of the playinf field - 1 cm Great thanks to my friend Mjöll who made all the filming and editing work.
