Matchlock Musket, Fort Algernon, First Anglo Powhatan War

There were a lot of new developments in firearms technology at the beginning of the 17th Century. Firearms were becoming more common and most of the European Colonists that came to North America brought guns with them. Most of the soldiers in the English garrison at Fort Algernon would have been armed with swords and matchlock muskets during the First Anglo Powhatan War.
