Soviet Celebrations (1927-1930)

Soviet Celebrations. USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Rocky; barren terrain; plains w/ mountains in background. Celebration taking place; commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Russian Revolution (and perhaps something else to do w/ the establishment of the USSR). Horsemen come riding across the plains; some carrying flags. Crowd of people on cliffs; watching. More men on horseback; a long line approaching. CU group of children and women smiling; waving. Women all wear shawls wrapped over their heads and around their shoulders; in the Muslim style. Wide shot crowds on cliffs and below. Long line of women walking in pairs at foot of cliff. Men gathered in front of archway w/ star at top; decorated w/ banners etc. Ribbons forming an X stretched across arch opening. CU a military officer w/ big moustache on horseback; draws his sword and rides toward the arch; slashing the ribbons. Procession streams through. Shot from very high above; looking down; shows how out in the middle of nowhere
