Avatar: The Last Airbender - Firebending Reel

Avatar: The Last Airbender | 2024 Led by Executive Producer Kristin Patterson and VFX Supervisor Goran Backman, the PXO Toronto team delivered more than 400 shots, including some of the most iconic moments of the show. Kristin Patterson: “We haven’t really done a project like this before. We’ve been working on this for four years. We were involved from the very beginning and that’s part of why it looks so good now! We were involved all the way from pre-production with the design of the Fire Nation, not just with building our environments but with concepting too.”   The majority of the sequences from Firebending were also developed by PXO. Goran Backman: “We started with the hope of having an excellent base of fire to start all our shots from and then proceeding with creative changes for the various specific tasks. After that, we did other kinds of cheating to make the fire look as good as possible. They had some creative ideas about how that fire should have wrapped around people’s bodies almost like it envelops them.”  SYNOPSIS: A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war — and fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him.
