Princess Diana stuns the stars at Cannes Film Festival (1987)

On 15 May 1987, Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Charles, Prince of Wales arrived in Cannes ahead of that year’s film festival. The Royal couple spent the day in a working capacity attending an exhibition at the British Pavillion as well as an event at which Prince Charles made a speech in French. Later, the Prince and Princess of Wales mixed with the cream of Hollywood as they attended a screening of The Whales of August, meeting the film’s starring lady Lillian Gish. After the film, Charles and Diana attended a gala dinner in honour of British legend of the stage and screen, Sir Alec Guinness. The Princess and Sir Alec were seated beside each other at the dinner, and were captured by cameras happily chatting away. #Diana #PrincessDiana #DianaPrincessOfWales #PrincessOfWales #Charles #PrinceCharles #PrinceOfWales #KingCharles #KingCharlesIII #CharlesIII #Cannes #CannesFilmFestival #Hollywood #RoyalFamily #AlecGuinness #LillianGish To license the footage featured in this clip, follow the link below: OR T150587008*&sort=best To search the ITN Archive collection on Getty Images, follow the link below: 🎥 Subscribe to our YouTube channel (tap the bell icon and stay up to date with all the latest ITN Archive videos!) - @ITNArchive 🎥 Follow us on Twitter - 🎥 Like us on Facebook - 🎥 Check out our TikTok - @itnarchive1955
