Russian volunteer awarded The commander of an air assault platoon with the call sign Zamir went to the war zone as a volunteer, along with three of his friends. Everyone had a wealth of combat experience behind them. This is not the first war for him; he took part in the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus. In 2014, he volunteered for the Donbass where he took a direct part in the fighting against Ukrainian militants. In peaceful life, he was engaged. And when a special military operation began, he could not stay away. The command of the Airborne Forces appointed him to the post of commander of a parachute platoon and Zamir was awarded the first officer rank of junior lieutenant. Commanding a platoon in one of the directions, during the defence of the flanks of Artyomovsk, he dispersed personnel and equipped observation and firing points on the line of defence in such a way that the enemy could not even approach Russian positions. Skillfully used the terrain to camouflage positions and covert movement. The platoon commander distributed the fire weapons of the platoon and the fire weapons assigned to it in the most dangerous directions and did not let the enemy through. Having launched an attack on the positions of Zamir’s platoon, the Ukrainian Armed Forces actively used cannon artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and tanks against the defending paratroopers. During attacks by Ukrainian units, the officer boldly and confidently controlled the battle from his platoon stronghold, preventing the enemy from moving forward. The brave and decisive actions of the commander with the call sign Zamir, as well as the courage and professionalism of his subordinates, made it possible to save the lives of his comrades and prevent a breakthrough of militants.
