Live from NYC following heavy rains and floods caused by Hurricane Ida

Ruptly is live from New York City on Thursday, September 2, following heavy rains and flooding, caused by remnants of Hurricane Ida, which left at least seven dead. On Wednesday, heavy rains prompted the National Weather Service to issue the first-ever flash flood emergency warning for New York City. The NWS recorded 80 mm ( inches) of rain in one hour in downtown NYC. Mayor Bill de Blasio declared the state of emergency shortly before midnight, saying the city was “enduring a historic weather event“ with “record-breaking rain“ and “brutal flooding.“
