3 Biblical Sites ~ Tabgha, Magdala, Primacy of Peter at Northern Sea of Galilee

Tabgha – The Church of Loaves and Fish Migdal – City of Magdala – the Magdala Stone Church of the Primacy of St. Peter Along the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee are 3 Biblical Sites, all close together. Tabgha - The Church of Loaves and Fish The church was first built here at the end of the 4th Century. Mosaics were put on the floor of the Byzantine church in the mid 5th century. Near the altar was found the famous mosaic of the basket with loaves and the 2 fish. This is a 5th Century original Mosaic. They found it in 1935. The church was destroyed in the 7th century. In 1932 a team excavated the ruins. The church is built in the Byzantine style following the dimensions of the original church. Parts of the black basalt walls still are part of the structure at the front of the church. The windows are made of alabaster, which is translucent so that light can come in through them.
