“Here we have some real English butter and egg men.“ Man in a soldier’s uniform and tin helmet is lowered over the edge of a cliff. “They are investigating the egg situation on the Yorkshire coast.“ M/S of the man abseiling down the rockface. Seagulls fly around him and the sea is seen below him. “It takes a “thirty-minute egg“ to bring up a three-minute one.“ C/U of the man grabbing eggs from a shelf of rock. He bounces backwards and forwards on the rock. M/S of the men at the top of the rock who hold the rope he is attached to. They take the strain. They begin pulling him up. Camera tilts up as he makes his way back up the cliff. M/S of the men pulling on the rope. He arrives at the summit. “Gulls’ eggs! A delicacy if both you and the egg don’t end up an omelette.“ M/S of a pile of eggs. M/S of the men sorting the eggs into baskets.
