The scene shortly after Dorothy’s house lands on and kills the Wicked Witch of the East, in the 1939 film, “The Wizard of Oz“, directed by Victor Fleming, and starring Judy Garland. In L. Frank Baum’s original novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz“, Dorothy wears silver slippers, but for the MGM film, the slippers were changed to red to take advantage of the new Technicolor film process that was used for Hollywood films of that era.
