The Williamson Tunnels. A BBC Close-Up North program from 2002

This is a BBC program from 2002 looking at the Williamson Tunnels in Edge Hill, Liverpool. This is uploaded here as a historical archive item. Much has changed in the intervening years. Much excavation has taken place at all 3 sites and an enormous amount of research has been done which has taught us more about Williamson and his underground workings than we knew back then. There are interviews with members of the Joseph Williamson Society who operate the Tunnels Heritage Centre and members of the Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels who operate from the site of Joseph Williamson’s house and the Paddington cellars. Many ideas have been changed and new discoveries made since this program was made.
