The Oarsman Pub, Ringsend, Dublin : Cape Breton Strathspey, (0:00), The Wild Irishman (Reel 0:56) & Mari’s Wedding (Reel 1:46) : Paul Dooley, with a harp he constructed using a design based on the “Brian Ború Harp“ or “Trinity College Harp,“ the oldest surviving Irish Medieval Harp. This is a metal strung harp which is played with the fingernails as opposed to the fingertips . Paul is originally from Quebec, Canada and is now living in Ennistymon, Co. Clare for over 25 years. Here he plays a strathspey from Cape Breton and then 2 reels, the second which he composed himself. He is also an accomplished fiddle player, having spent many years playing alongside the great Tommy Peoples in The Roadside Tavern, Lisdoonvarna, as well as Linnane’s and Vaughan’s, Kilfenora, Co. Clare. As a music archivist he has been working on the “Robert ap Huw Manuscript Collection“ and has brought these medieval harp pieces to life with the album “Paul Dooley, Music from the Robert ap Huw Manuscript Volume 1 “, which was recorded in Inis Oírr, Aran Islands, Co. Galway. Tigh Tábhairne An Oarsman, An Rinn, BÁC : Paul Dooley ar an gcláirseach don sraith Geantraí ar TG4 2009.
