Moving Eyes Make the Ears Squeak

Scientists can now pinpoint where someone is looking just by listening to their ears. Following Duke researchers’ initial discovery that the ears emit subtle sounds when the eyes move, a new report from the same group finds that decoding the sounds reveals where your eyes are looking. These faint ear sounds may fine-tune perception and could be used to develop innovative hearing tests. Note: the sounds you hear in the video are amplified averages of several recordings taken from a separate study (). The actual recorded ear sounds are very faint and imperceptible unless artificially made louder.
