Ernest Bevin leaves for Dunkirk to sign Anglo-French Treaty of Friendship. Russian delegates arrive at Dover. Battleship Vanguard sails towards South Africa with King George VI aboard (not seen). India: crowds of people in the streets at a festival some holding bowls above their heads as if begging for food.
