Rare Double Cleaver [Black Blade With Kingwood Handle]

Anyone who likes old, rare things will love this restoration. I’m restoring an rare antique double cleaver! I have to work a lot on the lathe, grinding, drilling, thread cutting, working with chemicals and a lot more... I had to replace the old handle with a new one, this time made of kingwood. But I also worked with steel and brass. In the end, the antique cleaver will somehow look old and new! Stay tuned, and have fun watching! ▶ What did I do?! ◀ After dismantling the old, very rare hatchet, I placed the blade in a bath of rust remover. To prevent the blade from rusting, I treated it with iron(III)chloride. I made the new wooden handle out of kingwood and also made new caps out of brass. I made the entire handle on the lathe, so if you like working on the lathe, this is the project for you! Because I deliberately left the pitting, the double cleaver has a unique look, somehow new and old at the same time. With the knowledge that the wooden handle is made of “kingwood”, the unique cleaver immediately takes on a mystical character. I love it! ▶ Good to know ◀ I used the following tools: hammer, pin punch, box, rust remover, wire brush, belt sander, saw, center punch, cordless screwdriver, drill, tap, cutting oil spray, orbital sander, iron(III) chloride, steel wool, lathe, lathe chisel, center drill, boring bar, 1mm milling cutter, milling machine, sandpaper, tweezers, ruler, pencil, file, glue, isopropanol, cotton buds ▶ Special thanks to my channel members! ◀ ⭐Fred Chipps ▶ Do you want to support me? ◀ Would you like to become a channel member?
