Double Balloon Enteroscopy in Crohn’s disease

A 26 year old female patient had a history of Crohn’s disease since age 14. She had severe perianal disease and also small bowel disease. A defunctioning ileostomy was performed 6 years ago. She had previously used Infliximab and is now on Adalimumab and 6-Mercaptopurine. A recent small bowel MRI showed small bowel strictures and the radiologist made worrying comments such as “some strictures appear shouldered.” We therefore performed a double balloon enteroscopy to investigate further.
