Weighing In The Mayor (1937)

Title reads: “Weighing-in the Mayor“. High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. According to narrator it is “Mayor’s day“ all over England. Various shots of procession through streets of town. New Lord Mayor of Wycombe, Councillor Gibbs, leads procession of Aldermen and other dignitaries. Various shots of bizarre custom taking place in town square: the mayor is weighed on a large set of scales. A town crier announces to crowd Councillor Gibbs’ weight. The Lady Mayoress then sits on the scales - the item ends as her weight is about to be announced (keeping a lady’s weight a secret shows even Pathe can be sensitive!).
