Georg Böhm - ALLEIN GOTT IN DER HÖH SEI EHR [Hauptwerk // Noordbroek]

In this video you can hear my rendition of Georg Böhm’s “Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr” played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Noordbroek, created by Sonus Paradisi. Some weeks ago I recorded Böhm’s “Vater unser im Himmelreich“. Perhaps his most beloved chorale prelude. A trademark of that piece is the amount of trills, mordents and other embellishments the cantus firmus has. So I started looking for some more music from Böhm and stumbled upon his chorale prelude on the hymn “Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr“. I found an edition with a huge amount of ornaments and thought that’s it would be a perfect sequal. I think there is at at least one ornament in average per bar. It’s fun and wonderful :) Georg Böhm (1661-1733) was one of the leading organists and organ composers in his part of Germany in the years around 1700, and may have been an important influence on J.S.
