Costandinos’s recording career, Costandinos surpassed himself by transforming William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet into a grandiose disco opus, taking up a full LP, masterfully arranged by Don Ray, their 4th album in just six months! Recorded once again at London’s Trident Studios in September 1977, Costandinos and his engineer Peter Kelsey managed to synchronise two 24-track recorders to create the world’s first 48-track recording, adding a whole new richness to the soundscape. Released in January 1978, the album became an instant disco favourite as it zoomed its way up to the top of the Billboard Disco Charts. It was, however, still too complex to ever look like becoming a hit on the pop charts, even though a 7“ single was extracted and Casablanca Records shot a promotional film.
