UN relief agency calls for prompt investigation into the attack on aid convoy in Syria

United Nations - At least 18 of 31 trucks in a joint UN and Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) convoy were attacked on Monday night after an airstrike on the rebel held Orem al Kubra town in the Syrian city of Aleppo, despite approval obtained from all parties to the conflict. Several civilians, including one humanitarian worker, died in the attack, in addition to some of the life-saving food and medicine on the convoy being destroyed. As a consequence, the UN has suspended aid convoys in Syria, “pending further assessment of the security situation”.
