The definitive Calaf of history, Franco Corelli and Lucille Udovich’s wonderful Turandot in this charming, vintage made-for-TV version of the opera. The film was made for Puccini’s 100th birthday at the RAI Milano studios. Original broadcast date: 23 December 1958. ℹ️ Italian, English and German subtitles provided (English translation by William Weaver). If it doesn’t start automatically, you have to turn it on with the subtitles/CC button. This version is a bit brighter and sharper than the one previously available on DVD, and I have also tried to stabilize the flickering frames in most (not all) places and remove the shaking as much as possible. But this is a very old film, not even made with the best technology of its time, so don’t expect miracles, the quality will never be fantastic.
