Gang of 50 looters ransack L.A. mall

For those of you who can’t wait for Black Friday, why not try Smash ‘n’ Grab Saturday? This new shopping trend was caught on camera at the Westfield Topanga Mall, Los Angeles, where heavy discounts were the order of the day. A 50-something-strong gang of looters descended on a Nordstrom store, smashing display cases, stealing as much as they could carry (one looter made off with an entire display shelf), and attacking security staff with bear spray. Between $60,000 and $100,000 worth of luxury handbags and designer clothing are believed to have been stolen, and police are now searching for ‘30 to 50’ suspects. The incident is just one in a string of similar thefts plaguing California, after Democrat lawmakers drastically reduced the punishment for shoplifting, and in some cases passed laws forbidding store employees to challenge thieves, leading to a spate of mob looting sprees.
