“We will not comply!“ New York protesters reject COVID-19 vaccine mandates

Hundreds of people protested in the streets of New York City on Wednesday against COVID-19 vaccine mandates, chanting “we will not comply“ and “no more shots.“ Teachers were at the forefront of the protest which was organized by New York unions representing workers across the city, after Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that public school teachers and staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19. The protests came a week after the city also began requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination at restaurants, gyms and other businesses. The vaccine mandates are part of a push to get more residents inoculated and to slow the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.
