Officials reflect on state efforts during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

For January’s National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, law enforcement officers and lawmakers gathered to reflect on the progress they’ve made over the past year. Among that progress, they cited legislation passed that increased the penalty for soliciting sex with a minor from a misdemeanor to a felony and expanded the state’s legal definition of human trafficking making it easier to investigate and prosecute.
