Crowds shout at Hamas hostages as they are released from captivity

Israeli negotiators are offering Hamas a further three days of ceasefire lasting till Sunday morning if the group releases all the remaining women and children they believe it is holding, according to sources close to talks in Qatar, The Times has learnt. The Israeli authorities now believe there were about 100 civilian women and children taken by Hamas and its partner militant groups during the attacks of October 7. Hostage releases during the current ceasefire, which was originally set for four days but has so far been extended by two more, have led to 60 of them being released by Tuesday night, with a further ten due to be handed over on Wednesday.
